Zach Boone carved out a nice legacy for himself in high school, winning 10 state championships in either cross country or track.
One of the most decorated athletes in Mitchell history has come back to Western North Carolina to continue his college career.
Boone is a 2015 Mountaineers graduate who has transferred from Mississippi to UNC Asheville. He will be eligible to run this school year for the Bulldogs as a sophomore.
Boone’s personal-best time for 5 kilometers is 15 minutes, 31 seconds. Boone’s PRs in track are as follows — 1,600-meter run (4:24.51) and 3,200-meter run (9:22.20).
