Tuscola seniors Caleb Ferguson and Roman Jenkins.
Tape review and a little research by the Tuscola football coaching staff has revealed that a third school record was achieved in Friday’s 68-34 home win over Patton.
Senior running back Caleb Ferguson has been credited with six touchdowns (four rushing, two receiving).
Ferguson led the Mountaineers in rushing (120 yards) and receiving (80). He was a 1,000-yard rusher each of the past two seasons and has received an invitation to January’s Blue-Grey All-American Bowl in Jacksonville, Fla.
Ferguson’s single-game touchdown record came on the same night as a school record for kick return yardage (278) from fellow senior Roman Jenkins.
The points total itself for the Mountaineers tied a third record – they had previously beaten Enka by a 68-19 score in 1974.
Tuscola (1-0) is back at Weatherby Stadium on Friday with another undefeated team, Owen (1-0), coming to town for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
