Asheville High senior Devon Davidson became a 1,000-yard passer for the second consecutive football season in Friday’s 34-16 home loss to Reynolds.
Davidson now has 1,049 yards for the Cougars (2-4, 0-1) this season and 2,681 in his two years as their starter.
Smoky Mountain senior Cole Hooper also threw for his 1,000th yard as he led the Mustangs to Friday’s 41-7 shellacking of West Henderson in Sylva. Barring a collapse, Hooper (1,069 yards) and Smoky Mountain (5-1, 1-1) appear to be headed for their first winning season since 1999.
