Mountain Heritage senior Adam Shuford became the season’s first Western North Carolina football player to record his 100th tackle last Friday.
The 5-foot-11, 205-pound linebacker now has 104 tackles (12 for a loss) after recording 16 in a 36-21 win at Polk County. Shuford is contributing 14.9 tackles per game, up from his 11.1 average in 2015, followed by Corey Presnell (11.1), Dathan Robinson (9.9), Seth Randolph (9.6), Kane McCandless (9.3) and Dawson Branton (7.9).
The Cougars (6-1, 1-1) are back on this road this week at Owen (1-5, 0-2).
