Brevard quarterback Tanner Ellenberger
Two seniors are the 10th and 11 Western North Carolina quarterbacks to reach the 1,000-yard mark in passing this fall.
Brevard’s Tanner Ellenberger has 1,150 yards after Friday’s 45-9 home win over East Henderson. Ellenberger has been voted the WNC Athletic Conference preseason player of the year on two different occasions (2015 and 2016).
Enka’s Avery Holbrook (1,040 yards) hit the benchmark in Friday’s 51-7 loss to visiting Asheville High. Holbrook is a first-year starter for the Jets.
Hendersonville’s Alex Williford, Roberson’s Ty Gossett, Smoky Mountain’s Cole Hooper, Madison’s Colby Edwards and Franklin’s Andrew Moore are five other area quarterbacks who belong to the 1,000-yard club for the first time.
