
The Roberson girls soccer team is 8-0-3 after Wednesday’s win at North Buncombe
Roberson is going into spring break as the only undefeated girls team in the Mountain Athletic Conference and a new entry in this week’s N.C.. Soccer Coaches Association rankings for NCHSAA 4-A.
The Rams improved to 8-0-3 and 3-0-0 in the MAC with Wednesday’s 7-1 win at North Buncombe.
Fifteen different players have scored goals this season, led by junior Laci Motley (nine), senior Amanda Pritchard (five), senior Alice Widman (four), junior Sarah Shearer (three), senior Kelsey Metcalf (three), sophomore Abby Haines (three) and freshman Caroline Hemphill (three).
Amber Gay was posted eight shutouts as a freshman goalkeeper.
Roberson debuted at No. 15 in the NCSCA 4-A poll ahead of Wednesday’s game in Weaverville. The Rams do not play again until April 5 (at home against Erwin).
Nine of their 24 players are seniors — Metcalf, Pritchard, Widman, Alex Mahoney, Anna Spake, Emily Fuller, Lauren Croft, Lily Talley and Maddie Hiriak.
