McDowell senior Canaan Silver has committed to play college baseball for Spartanburg Methodist (S.C.).
Silver was an All-Mountain Athletic Conference selection for the Titans (15-12) last spring.
He was 5-5 on the mound with three saves, a 2.08 earned-run average and 101 strikeouts in 67.1 innings pitched. In limited action as a positional player, Silver batted .240 with a pair of RBIs.
Silver was named to the N.C. Baseball Coaches Association’s all-state team.
