Hayesville senior Maddie Payne gave out her 2,000th career assist in Tuesday night’s 3-0 home loss to Roxboro Community.
Payne, who has committed to play college volleyball and softball for LaGrange (Ga.), needed 27 assists to reach the milestone in the fourth round of the NCHSAA 1-A playoffs. She had 28 for the Yellow Jackets (24-1).
The set scores were 30-28, 25-20 and 25-22.
