Franklin seniors Kelton Lowry and Wyatt Burnette have been selected to play in the July 20 East-West All-Star football game in Greensboro.

Lowry and Burnette were both Citizen-Times All-WNC Players last season for the Western North Carolina Athletic Conference champion Panthers (10-4).

Burnette is a a 6-foot-4, 280-pound prospect who was named the 2015 WNCAC Lineman of the Year after anchoring a line that averaged 5.9 rushing yards a carry. He is a preferred walk-on for Western Carolina University.

Much of Burnette’s blocking cleared the way for Lowry.

The 6-foot, 190-pound back was named the WNC Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year after rushing for 2,008 yards and 28 touchdowns. He had six receptions for 106 yards. On defense, Lowry made 64 tackles, three interceptions and forced two fumbles.

Lowry does not yet have any plans to play college football.
