The 2015 Asheville Christian Academy boys soccer team and coaches.
It was a Halloween that Asheville Christian Academy soccer will surely never forget.
And the Lions are still being rewarded for their first-ever boys state championship.
The National Christian School Athletic Association has named Terry Hughes its coach of the year.
Liberty recruit Corban Crosley was deemed a second-team All-American. Crosley earned All-Carolinas Athletic Association honors, NCISAA 2-A all-state and Citizen-Times All-WNC recognition in 2015. He led the Lions in goals (18) and assists (nine).
The NCSAA also gave out all-region honors to Crosley, Logan Collie and Coleman Compton.
ACA (16-3-2) and Westchester Country Day played to a 3-3 tie at the end of regulation and overtime on Oct. 31 in High Point. ACA then won the penalty shootout, 5-4. Collie was the goalkeeper who clinched the state championship with a save.
Hughes coached the undefeated ACA girls (15-0-3) to last year’s NCISAA 2-A championship as well. This is his ninth year at the Swannanoa Valley school.
