Asheville High senior Damon Scott has committed to play college basketball for Emory & Henry (Va.).
Scott was named the Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Year this past season after averaging 20.0 points, 5.8 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 3.8 steals per game. He was a first-team selection to the Citizen-Times All-WNC team.
Additionally, Scott was part of the N.C. Basketball Coaches Association all-district team and the most valuable player of the Feb. 19 Blue-White All-Star game after leading all scorers with 34 points.
“He’s excited about this opportunity and I’m excited for him,” Cougars coach Sonita Warren-Dixon said.
“I saw Damon come into our program as a freshman and since then he has probably exceeded all my expectations. And he’s still developing.”
