Phillips Resigns as West Henderson’s Men’s Head Basketball Coach
HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (June 3, 2016) – West Henderson High’s Billy Phillips resigned from his position as men’s varsity head basketball coach and social studies teacher Friday, June 3, after five years at West.
This year, Phillips led the Falcons to the playoffs with a record season of 11-13, and had an overall record at West of 44-75.
“I would like to thank Henderson County Public School, especially West Henderson High School, for allowing me the privilege of coaching the boys’ basketball team for the past five years,” Phillips said. “I would also like to thank the West community for their support during my tenure. Although I will miss being a Falcon, this will be best for my family.”
West Henderson’s Principal Shannon Auten said, “We are thankful for the leadership that Coach Phillips has provided to our program, we appreciate his five years as a Falcon, and we wish him all the best as he moves forward.”
