Pisgah senior Brooklyn Allen has been named to the July 18 East-West All-Star girls basketball game.

CANTON – Brooklyn Allen left very few points unscored in her four-year varsity career at Pisgah.

Who better to represent Haywood County in the East-West All-Star girls basketball game?

The annual event between North Carolina seniors is July 18 at the Greensboro Coliseum, and only 20 statewide girls get an invitation each year.

Complete rosters for East-West basketball have not yet been officially announced by the N.C. Coaches Association.

“It’s a big accomplishment for her and exciting to our entire program, athletic department and our community to have someone represent us in this way,” Black Bears coach Brandon Holloway said.

“It’s something that is well-deserved for her. And this needs to be said, I’ve been here 17 years and we’ve only had two other East-West All-Stars (Leslie Young and Sheridan Pressley). It’s not something that happens every year. We’ve been very fortunate.”

Allen has signed with Appalachian State on the heels of scoring the eighth-most career points (2,201) in WNC girls basketball. The 5-foot-8 guard led the Black Bears to 103 wins in four years.

She won about every individual award imaginable last winter.

Allen was the Western North Carolina Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Citizen-Times All-WNC Player of the Year and N.C. Basketball Coaches Association Region 12 Player of the Year. Statewide media voted her to the Associated Press all-state team.

As a senior, Allen averaged 24.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 3.0 steals per game. She had 10 double-doubles and was the WNCAC tournament’s most valuable player and a Blue-White All-Star.
