Asheville High alum Crezdon Butler began his seventh season as an NFL cornerback last week in Allen Park, Mich.
Butler is in training camp with the Detroit Lions.
The 2006 Cougars graduate has played for seven other teams — Pittsburgh, Arizona, Washington, Buffalo, San Diego, Tampa Bay and Seattle — since beginning his pro football career in 2010.
Butler led Asheville to a 15-0 season and NCHSAA 3-A championship as a high school senior. He was named the 2005 Citizen-Times All-WNC Player of the Year. Butler was selected in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL draft (with 164th overall pick) by Pittsburgh after playing his college ball at Clemson.
