Roberson graduate Chris Narveson is a left-handed pitcher for the Miami Marlins.
The Miami Marlins have given Chris Narveson another shot at Major League Baseball.
Narveson, 34, is a 2000 Roberson graduate who was promoted from Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday.
The Marlins sent Narveson down to the minor league team in April. At the time, he was 1-0 for Miami as a reliever with a 8.64 earned-run average. Narveson had a 4-5 record for New Orleans with a 3.48 ERA with 60 strikeouts in 82.2 innings pitched.
The left-hander has pitched off and on in the majors since 2006. He was selected out of high school in the second round of the 2000 Major League Baseball draft by St. Louis.
Besides Narveson, the only other Western North Carolina player currently active in MLB is 2005 Roberson graduate Cameron Maybin. He is an outfielder for the Detroit Tigers.
