
Rachel Kuehn
Asheville School sophomore Rachel Kuehn shot an even par round of 72 on Tuesday and is the first-round leader of the Dogwood State Junior Championship.
Kuehn is one stroke ahead of Lexington’s Emily Hawkins entering Wednesday’s second round at the Cabarrus Country Club in Concord. The golf tournament runs through Thursday.
North Buncombe senior Callista Rice is the Dogwood’s two-time defending champion and shot 79 on Tuesday. She is tied for ninth place. East Henderson junior Emma Reid carded an 84.
Christ School junior Carson Ownbey and Roberson senior Matt Sharpstene are five strokes off the lead in the boys division after both shooting 73 on Tuesday.
