Thursday night’s “Stampede in the Valley” community football event at Owen has been cancelled.
Buncombe County Schools is replacing the Warhorses’ artificial turf field at the moment and work has been delayed by rainy weather in the Swannanoa Valley.
Owen is home for its season opener on Aug. 19 against Enka.
The Warhorses are one of two BCS programs which are getting new turf this summer. Erwin’s field was finished in July.
