It will be a restless weekend for Mountain Heritage.

Trey Robinson suffered an ankle injury of some kind in Friday’s 36-14 home win over David Crockett (Tenn.).

The severity of the injury is not yet known for one of the most mobile quarterbacks in Western North Carolina. Robinson, who is a junior, ran for 2,264 yards in 2015. He is the preseason player of the year in the Western Highlands Conference.

The Cougars (1-0) were ahead 28-0 at halftime Friday in Burnsville.

Robinson rushed for a team-high 117 yards. A big chunk of his 89 passing yards was a 66-yard touchdown to Cole Burleson at the 2:12 mark of the first quarter. Justin Keener and Junior Denton added 55 rushing yards each. Keener had two touchdowns and Denton scored one.

“I thought we played really well in the first half,” Mountain Heritage coach Joey Robinson said.

“The (injury to Trey Robinson) changed things for us. David Crockett has a lot of skill kids who can run, and for the most part, I thought our defense did a good job.”

The Cougars (1-0) will come to Erwin (1-0) next week.
