Huntersville’s SouthLake Christian Academy has given its reason for forfeiting Friday’s NCISAA Division II football playoff game at Christ School.
A school spokesperson told The Charlotte Observer that the Eagles (3-8) have less than 20 players. SouthLake, which won back-to-back state championships as recently as 2013 and 2014, was also concerned about younger players have to play both offense and defense against the Greenies (9-1).
Christ School is a No. 2 seed in this year’s NCISAA playoffs and will host either No. 6 Metrolina Christian (6-4) or No. 3 Ravenscroft (6-5) in next week’s state semifinals.
