North Buncombe’s Nick Lisenbee (1,118 yards) and Mitchell’s Ben Young (1,026) are the two latest Western North Carolina football players to rush for 1,000 yards.
Both are juniors.
The season ended Friday for Lisenbee and the Black Hawks (0-11, 0-6). Meanwhile, Young and Mitchell (10-1, 5-1) shared the Western Highlands Conference championship with Hendersonville and Mountain Heritage. This is the first time in school history that the Mountaineers have posted back-to-back 10-win seasons.
Young has also passed for 1,689 yards.
