The Haywood County-based Carolina Smoke fifth grade boys basketball team won its age division at last weekend’s Basketball of the Carolinas state qualifier in Greenville, S.C.

The Smoke completed the tournament with a perfect 4-0 record, defeating the Carolina Cavaliers 49-25 in the championship game. Caden Robinson, who averaged a double double for the tournament, led the way in the title game with 25 points, including a go ahead buzzer beater three pointer to end the first half. Devin Brafford also averaged a double double for the tournament. Sawyer Belue averaged 4 steals and 5 assists for the tournament. Leading rebounders were Dawson Reeves and Slade Burnette. Anchoring the middle, and filling in for starting center Ezra Burgess was Peyton Hill. The Smoke are coached by Jason and Tabitha Brafford.
