How do you follow up the greatest state playoff run in school history?
This year, Mitchell football hopes to go one step further than its 1-AA Western Regional championship season in 2015.
The Mountaineers are holding a community kickoff event Friday at the high school. Admission is $5 and children get in free. Concessions as well as Mitchell merchandise will be available for purchase. Whole pork butts will be sold at a cost of $40.
Children will have inflatables to play on and are invited to take part in a skills session from 4 to 4:45 p.m. before the Mountaineers hold an open practice from 5 to 7 p.m. Following the practice, there will be a meet and greet session with the players and live music.
