WAYNESBORO, Va. — Former Murphy standout Michael Curry and the Strasburg (Va.) Express repeated as champions of the Valley Baseball League on Friday night.
Strasburg swept Waynesboro in the best-of-three championship series with a 5-4 road win in Game 2.
Curry, who is a sophomore at the University of Georgia, was a catcher for the Express. In the VBL playoffs, he batted .320 with seven RBIs and a home run.
Curry was named to the SEC All-Freshman team by the league’s coaches after hitting .262 with a team-high 11 home runs and 34 RBIs for Georgia.
