Recent Smoky Mountain graduate Jacob Gass has signed to wrestle in college for Truett-McConnell (Ga.).
As a senior, Gass (48-3) was the Western North Carolina Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Year and pieced together a 40-0 record in the regular season. He was the 2-A Western Regional runner-up and came in fourth at the NCHSAA 2-A tournament. Gass won his weight class at four regular-season tournaments for the Mustangs. He finished his high school career with 121 wins.
Gass was also an All-WNC baseball player (as an outfielder) and a finalist for the NCHSAA male athlete of the year award.
