College interest is not waning at all for Michael Parrott.
The 5-foot-11, 240-pound junior from Pisgah accepted an offer from Alabama football to be a preferred walk-on back in February.
Since then, Illinois State has thrown out the option of a scholarship, and North Carolina is willing to give Parrott the same walk-on opportunity as the Crimson Tide.
Parrott is a two-time All-Western North Carolina Athletic Conference player who made made 35 pancake blocks for the Black Bears (8-4) in 2015, to go along with 390 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
“He doesn’t fit into everybody’s offensive scheme,” Pisgah coach Brett Chappell said.
“I can’t tell you how many coaches I talk to who say they love Michael as a player, but just don’t have a place for him (in a spread offense). It’s very selective, but he’s getting a lot of interest.”
